We are doing what we can to reduce our footprint and make 2011 RAPS a greener event.
We encourage everyone to support RAPS' efforts and participate in a "greener meeting." The "be greener" logo will be used throughout the conference to recognize products that contain recycled or biodegradable materials.
Here are some of the things we're doing to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions:
- RAPS will provide each attendee with a recyclable RAPS water bottle and supply several water coolers around the center. Attendees are encouraged to refill and reuse this bottle throughout the conference to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles.
- Green Travel – print this coupon and take advantage of Indianapolis' Green Line Shuttle.
- Both the JW Marriott and Westin hotels participate in a water/energy saving linen program, as well as participate in Clean the World, which donates soap to countries in need.
- All RAPS signage and carpet in the exhibit hall and general session is made from recycled materials.
- An environmentally conscious menu will be provided that includes seasonal, local and sustainable foods and seafood from sustainable farms and fisheries. All leftover and sustainable food will be donated to the Second Helpings food rescue program.
- Biodegradable disposable service ware products will be provided for all meal functions.
- The Indiana Convention Center uses Green Seal Certified cleaning products throughout the facility, as well as all paper towel and tissue products are 100% recycled material.
- The Indiana Convention Center will collect paper, aluminum and glass and recycle it.
- The RAPS program will be printed using soy-based inks, which recycle, and recycled papers.
- The exhibitor prospectus and decorator kit was distributed electronically as a PDF, not as a printed piece.
- No styrofoam will be used.
