RAPS Offers Easier Access for Regulatory Professionals in Emerging Markets

4 February 2010

Rockville, MD, USA—The Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS), the premier international membership association for regulatory professionals in the healthcare product sector, has created a new, two-tiered membership rate structure for professionals in emerging markets. RAPS’ Emerging Markets Membership Dues Program allows professionals in emerging markets to join RAPS through an electronic membership that gives them access to member benefits and members-only online content at a special rate of either $60 or $99 (US), depending upon their country of residence.

The option is available to professionals who live and work in nations defined as emerging economies by the World Bank. Details can be found online at RAPS.org/emerging.

With this program, RAPS hopes to encourage greater involvement in the international regulatory community regardless of geographic location or economic conditions and to provide greater access to RAPS’ many professional resources. Regulatory professionals around the world perform vital work throughout the process of ensuring safe and effective healthcare products, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices and biotechnology products.

“The healthcare product sector is global. Products that we all use everyday are conceived, developed, tested and marketed worldwide, and regulatory professionals are playing critical roles in all parts of the world,” said RAPS Executive Director Sherry Keramidas, PhD, CAE. “The profession has grown significantly, including in emerging economies, and we want to help those individuals connect with their colleagues in other areas, have access to the same tools and knowledge and be active participants in the international regulatory community.”

RAPS’ electronic membership provides access to RAPS resources via the Internet, including the electronic version of Regulatory Focus, the association’s flagship monthly magazine. In addition, participants of the Emerging Markets Membership Dues Program will receive 40% off RAPS bookstore products and Online University courses.
