Coordinator Level Overview
The coordinator title typically reflects a newer regulatory professional and/or an individual whose responsibilities focus on administrative activities, information management, project/activity tracking and support.
The coordinator title is used more often by regulatory staff in industry and clinical practices sites than in other settings. The majority at this level have a degree in the clinical or life sciences or engineering. Some have a degree in liberal arts or humanities, and hold an RAC designation.
Associate Level Overview
The associate-level position often represents early regulatory career professionals, although this may not be a first or entry-level position in many settings. In some settings such as consultancies and law offices, the associate title is an advanced professional title. Associate-level professionals, on average, have more than four years of regulatory experience and 12 years of total professional experience. Previous career roles include nursing, pharmacy, laboratory and research roles, quality and manufacturing involvement.
Many at the associate level have graduate education and/or degrees. A small percentage hold an MBA degree, and the vast majority are trained in the clinical or life sciences or engineering. A good portion of associates hold the RAC credential.
