What is the Advanced Leadership Workshop?
Professionals transitioning into higher leadership levels often face challenges while applying leadership theory into real life practice. The Advanced Leadership Workshop focuses on developing the critical competencies you need to step into a leadership role well-equipped and attuned to the challenges ahead.
With an emphasis on cultivating self and situational awareness, leadership skills, practice-based activities, discussion and group coaching, this interactive and engaging program provides a solid foundation for leading yourself, your team and the organization.
We will cover:

Day One of this two-day program will be devoted to transitioning into leadership roles with a focus on the skills and mindsets that enable a successful move from individual performer to leader and building self-awareness about individual leadership preferences and styles.

Meet Your Facilitators:
Trista Schoonmaker, PCC
Partner, COPIA Coaching and Consulting
An expert in learning design, group facilitation and leadership coaching, Trista believes that as our society and organizations become more complex, our ability to thrive requires us to foster new courage, explore fresh perspectives and engage in powerful conversations that address tension and conflict. Trista brings 25 years’ experience designing, evaluating and teaching curriculum that generates behavioral changes in individuals and teams. Throughout her career, she has developed a distinctive teaching and facilitation style that emphasizes high energy, active involvement and a defined focus on outcomes. She facilitates seminars that help individuals and teams form more trusting relationships, reimagine possibilities in conflict and improve the quality of workplace conversations. Equipped with greater conversational competence, Trista’s clients report increased confidence and improved job performance. Trista’s practice includes a rich and varied toolset in leadership and organizational development. She is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator; grounded in Brené Brown’s research, her sessions invite courageous leadership through embracing the challenges of vulnerability. She is also a trained Immunity to Change™ Facilitator, offering an approach to tackling personal changes resistant to past plans and intentions. Trista has developed and implemented unique methods to assess and shift team culture in struggling organizations. And as a certified workplace mediator, she offers individuals and teams processes to explore their disagreements and create new avenues out of conflict. An ICF-certified leadership coach, Trista coaches individuals, groups, and teams. She helps clients explore and transform their stories, define their personal leadership styles, and find courage to directly address the tensions impacting their work. She has a passion for coaching teams in conflict to rebuild trust and develop more effective communication strategies for the future. Trista also volunteers in her community as a moderator for Better Angels, a bi-partisan organization creating meaningful civic dialogue across the political spectrum.
Virginia Ann Swassing, RAC (US and EU)
Executive Director, Device and Diagnostic Regulatory LLC
Ginger Swassing is an accomplished Regulatory Affairs Professional with 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Her work experience spans in vitro diagnostic and medical device businesses. Ginger managed the global regulatory strategies and approvals to maximize commercial benefit for all classes of device and diagnostic products. Through her experience in the successful filing/approval of CE Mark devices and diagnostics, Ginger has worked successfully with many different Notified Bodies through contract negotiations, ISO audits and product approvals. She has managed global regulatory organizations and has led the development and remediation of procedures in quality compliance remediation efforts for large multinational manufacturing organizations. As a consultant since 2015, Ginger has provided guidance to medical device companies in interpretation of the European Union medical device regulations. In this role she developed strategies, procedures and templates to enable the smooth transition from the medical device and in vitro diagnostic directives to the MDR and IVDR. Prior to the start of her consulting career, Ginger was employed by Abbott Laboratories for 25 years. As Director of Regulatory Affairs for Abbott Vascular and Manager Regulatory Affairs in Abbott’s Diagnostic Division, she was responsible for the full product life cycle regulatory strategies for a broad portfolio of medical devices and IVDs. She established a Regulatory Operations team and managed regulatory subject matter and professional development training. She also held leadership positions in Technical Product Development, and Quality Systems at Abbott. Ginger earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Denver, Denver, CO. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her excellence in technical product development, regulatory approval and business efficiencies while employed at Abbott Laboratories. Ginger currently holds the following certifications: RAPS RAC (US and EU).
