A top European regulatory official will address regulatory professionals on 11 September in Phoenix at the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society’s (RAPS) annual conference, Convergence.
Anthony Humphreys of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will deliver remarks remotely during the Convergence opening plenary session. As the head of Regulatory Science and Innovation, Humphreys is responsible for ensuring that the EMA provides a continuous future-proofing through operation of a regulatory science observatory, addressing key scientific and technological trends and their translation through the development of regulatory science strategy, planning and governance.
“We are thrilled to have Tony Humphreys participating this year,” said Bill McMoil, RAPS Interim Executive Director and COO. “RAPS members need to understand the current environment and future regulatory direction at EMA. Hearing directly from Tony Humphreys will provide them with the insights and intelligence they need to operate successfully in Europe.”
Humphreys joins several top health-authority representatives who are participating remotely this year, including FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research Director Peter Marks and FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health Director Jeffrey Shuren, who will participate remotely.
Dozens of other regulatory officials are joining Convergence for its first in-person event in three years, providing attendees the rare opportunity to interact one-on-one and directly ask them questions.
RAPS Convergence is the leading conference for regulatory professionals to connect with peers and interact directly with health authority and notified body representatives on the latest topics in the healthcare products sector.
Convergence 2022 will feature more than 100 educational sessions, including 27 on biopharmaceuticals, 24 on medical devices and six on in vitro diagnostics. Popular session, “You Want to Make a Difference. FDA Wants to Hire You!” will give attendees a chance to hear from FDA employees as they explain how to apply for FDA jobs and best practices when doing so.
“I am going to the RAPS Convergence in person this year,” said Megha Iyer, Director of Global Strategic Regulatory Affairs for Thermo Fisher Scientific. “There are two sessions I’m especially excited to attend—Gary Turner’s discussion on the latest in 3D printing technology and session with EMA on big data, Real World evidence and how that plays into Health Authority Decision-Making.”
The leading regulatory affairs conference will also feature career growth resources that go beyond traditional networking, including career coaching and speed mentoring with RAPS Fellows.
Advance rates for RAPS Convergence 2022 expire on 18 August. Registration is open to and throughout the conference.
