Regulatory agencies often need signed copies of forms and documents. To obviate the need for handwritten signatures for electronically filled forms and documents, many regulatory agencies have either adopted international standards-based electronic signature methods or published their own guidelines. This article provides an overview of electronic signatures and digital certificates and further explores forms of electronic signatures accepted by the regulatory agencies.
