Highlights of FDAAA Implementation

The Food and Drug Amendments Act (FDAAA) was signed into law 27 September 2007, and added significant "teeth" to FDA's authority. This law reauthorized or expanded some existing parts of, and also added many new provisions to, the Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). Since its passage, the agency has implemented various provisions of this landmark legislation, with many more activities in the works. This article therefore endeavors to present a big-picture overview of what has been accomplished hitherto in the various provisions of this act.
