Focus Forward: Connecting a Global Profession

Globalization is not new to the regulatory profession. RAPS' biennial 2010 Scope of Practice & Compensation Study has mapped the steady growth of regulatory professionals' multinational responsibilities over the past decade. The 2008 study, the first to collect responses from professionals around the world, indicated that 70% of respondents had multiregional or worldwide responsibilities. While previous RAPS studies had been specific to North American or European professionals, making direct comparisons impossible, the global nature of respondents' responsibilities appears to be on the rise. The 2010 Scope of Practice & Compensation Study, which is now underway, is expected to show further increases in the number of professionals working on multinational activities and expansion of the range of their activities.
