Webster's dictionary (Merriam-Webster.com) defines "complacency" as "self-satisfaction, especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies." Based on this definition, a state of complacency regarding quality systems is appearing more frequently than ever before. This trend is wreaking regulatory havoc among established medical device manufacturers.
