For much of the public, the advertising and promotion of drugs and devices is the face of the healthcare industry. In the US, product advertisements on television and in magazines reach millions nationwide. Media coverage is widespread when the government takes action against misleading promotion. Even many healthcare professionals only interact with industry by listening to the presentations of sales representatives.
