Antibiotics will be included within the National Controlled Substances Management System (SNGPC) as of January 2013. The SNGPC is an important regulatory tool for monitoring drug use nationally and played a key role in the removal of some appetite suppressant drugs from the Brazilian market when the data confirmed abuse. Pharmacies and drugstores nationwide must submit information electronically concerning drugs subject to the reporting national system.
