The Role

Help support the professionals who bring lifesaving medications and medical devices to market! RAPS (the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society) is seeking an Associate Editor to support its books and peer-reviewed content products.
We are looking for an Associate Editor to join our team and help prepare and publish compelling educational and informational content authored by regulatory subject matter experts.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare manuscripts for review by external peer reviewers
  • Coordinate manuscripts during the peer-review process and maintain version control
  • Second-read manuscripts, figures, and tables to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Check references for accuracy and style
  • Prepare finalized manuscripts for layout including editing and marking up tables and figures
  • Assist as needed with page production
  • Initiate and coordinate correspondence with volunteer authors
  • Coordinate efforts and correspondence for Editorial Advisory Committee

About you

We are looking for a team member who has an inquisitive mindset, seeks editorial excellence and has the desire for professional growth. You are a multitasker but pay keen attention to detail and like to work on a variety of projects – large and small – at the same time. You have impeccable written and oral communication skills. This position will suit someone who wants to better understand the healthcare system and the medicinal products that treat patients and improve health.

Key Requirements are:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in an editorial role (copyeditor, editor, assistant editor)
  • Experience working with a proscribed editorial style such as AMA, APA, Chicago or similar
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills; experience with InCopy/InDesign is a plus
  • Publishing experience with an association, society or non-profit organization a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic
