The Role

RAPS is seeking an Editor to work on our News & Content team collaboratively in support of the creation, editing, production, and publication of high-quality regulatory content in RAPS Books and Regulatory Focus articles. This role will work closely with senior editors on the team to deliver editorial projects on time.

What you will do with us:

  • Project manage discrete book and product projects as assigned
  • Substantively edit manuscripts, figures, and tables for factual accuracy, form, grammar/punctuation, adherence to proscribed style, and general readability
  • Develop understanding of regulatory topics and issues to support the creation of high-quality book and article content
  • Work with volunteer authors, reviewers, and Editorial Advisory Committee members to:
    • Compare editorial changes against author changes and assist in resolving differences regarding structure, form, and grammar
    • Advise authors on schedule, revisions, and related matters
  • Prepare manuscripts for external peer review
  • Coordinate manuscripts during peer review process and maintain version control
  • Second-read manuscripts, figures, and tables to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Check references for accuracy and style
  • Prepare finalized manuscripts for layout including editing and marking up tables and figures
  • Assist as needed with page production
  • Manage correspondence with volunteer authors
  • Coordinate efforts and correspondence for Editorial Advisory Committee
  What you will bring to succeed:
 
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in an editorial role:
    • Adhering to proscribed editing style such as AMA, APA, Chicago, etc.
    • Displaying strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Multitasking to meet deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Understanding print and electronic publication production processes
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred):
    • English, journalism, communications, or related discipline, or commensurate experience`
