ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned)

The Education Specialist works collaboratively with the Education, Information Technology and Marketing departments in support of webcasts, online and in-person workshops, virtual events and other learning efforts by the Education and Professional Development department.

The Education Specialist reports to the Senior Manager, Education Programs and is responsible for the day-to-day processes involved with the development and delivery of RAPS’ webcasts, online and in-person workshops and education programs.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Performs all aspects of speaker management for online, in-person and Hybrid programs, including getting biographical sketches of speakers, establishing agendas and providing input of content design.
  • Assists in the identification of new workshops and online events.
  • Assists with work related to the Education Committee, which may include scheduling conference calls, taking and sending out minutes, and performing any relevant follow up.
  • Analyzes program evaluation results and identifies areas for improvement and recommends solutions.
  • Reviews printed and online program-related content for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensures contractual and payment obligations are processed.
  • Monitors program budgets to meet budgeted goals.
  • Manages the timelines for programs and works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accountability and completion of tasks.
  • Creates process flow documentation, SOPs and instructional videos to support internal process and platform changes.
  • Ensures there is clear communication with attendees when implementing a change.
  • Manages post-event communication with attendees, including disseminating presentation materials.
  • Participates in the testing process of de-bugging e-learning products for quality assurance.
  • Supports organization-wide, cross-functional projects and other related duties as assigned.

Program Development
  • Manage speaker expectations by providing input on content design, program goals, objectives, and intended outcomes.
  • Communicates clearly with stakeholders by providing program timing, updates, and deliverables.
  • Performs setup for online programs and manages speaker dry-runs.
  • Collaborates with registration coordinator and marketing to launch registration by gathering and distributing necessary program details (title, description, objectives, pricing, etc.).

In-person Workshops

  • Travels and works onsite for programs, as necessary. When onsite, coordinates with presenter(s), venue, and vendors.
  • Identifies program needs, requirements, and potential options such as locations, food and beverage, housing needs, audiovisual, room set ups, and other specifications, as needed.
  • Creates and ships meeting materials, such as badges and participant lists, for in-person events


  • Experience working with an LMS.
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experience with video and audio editing is a plus
  • Experience in eLearning course authoring software; Articulate preferred


  • 2-3 years of experience in planning and execution of training and/or education-related events.
  • 2-3 years of experience with event platforms and delivering live education programs/
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time to client specifications.
  • Ability to maintain a customer- centric mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, along with follow up skills.
  • Applying critical thinking skills to problem solve creatively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize multiple, concurrent projects.


  • 2+ years of previous experience in an association/nonprofit environment a plus
  • 2+ years of previous experience in managing and working with volunteers a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience delivering live, online events
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in online education for adults, project management or a related field.
