Marketing Manager

RAPS is seeking a Marketing Manager, Membership to develop and execute all strategic marketing activities related to recruitment, retention and onboarding for individual and enterprise membership categories. Additionally, this role manages campaigns related to chapter events, the RAPS Fellows program, onsite training, job board/career center and profile updates to support improved data integrity. This position has primary responsibility for the creation, deployment, tracking, and optimization of marketing plans, budgets, and related marketing collateral to drive sales and improve ROI. This role reports to the Director, Marketing and Communications and works extensively with a cohesive, collaborative team focused on serving the profession, bolstering community engagement and enhancing overall success.

Ideally you will be based near Rockville, MD, but we are open to candidates from other US locations.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with staff to set project goals and brainstorm marketing strategies
  • Establish positioning, identify target audiences, and develop marketing plans to meet project goals
  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation—from ideation to execution— leveraging internal support and driving collaboration as needed
  • Identify weaknesses in existing marketing campaigns and develop pragmatic solutions within budgetary constraints
  • Experiment with organic and paid acquisition channels like content creation, content curation, pay-per-click campaigns, event management, publicity, social media, and lead-generation campaigns
  • Working in partnership with the design team, develop creative briefs and guide campaign creative direction to meet goals for all advertising and public-facing communications, including print, digital, and video assets
  • Present ideas and final deliverables to internal teams, and communicate with senior leaders about marketing metrics, strategies and budgets
  • Oversee and approve marketing materials, including website banners and hard copy brochures to case studies and video testimonials
  • Write valuable and engaging content for our website that attracts and converts our target groups from technical descriptions provided by SMEs
  • Prepare and monitor program marketing budgets on an ongoing basis
  • Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight, and assess against goals
  • Analyze customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies
  • Organize promotional elements at RAPS face-to-face events, coordinating with staff to ensure prompt delivery of materials and merchandise

What you will bring:

Experience / Education (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in marketing) or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • 5+ years in a strategic marketing position
  • Excellent copywriting/editing skills with proven results across different audiences
  • Experience in developing and executing multiple, integrated cross-channel campaigns
  • Experience that shows strategic, creative, and analytical thinking
  • Excellent internal/external communication and project management skills
  • Strong budget management and analytical skills
  • Sound judgment, ability to make tough decisions, keen negotiator
  • Strong, proactive, solutions-based approach to problem-solving
  • Collaborative, multi-tasker with an attention to detail who thrives working in a fast-pasted, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media, email deployment systems, database management, and list selection/segmentation; Google Analytics, SEO/SEM competency

Experience (a plus)

  • Familiarity with Marketo, Trello, Impexium AMS and Kentico CMS
  • Association/nonprofit and/or regulatory/health-science experience
