Founded in 1976, RAPS helped establish the regulatory profession and continues to actively support the regulatory professional by providing education and training, professional standards, publications, research, knowledge sharing, networking, career development opportunities and other valuable resources, including the Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC), the only post-academic professional credential to recognize regulatory excellence. RAPS’s global headquarters is in suburban Washington, DC, with chapters and affiliates worldwide, and RAPS EU is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The Role
RAPS is seeking a Regional Engagement Manager to be its first full-time staff person to support our European subsidiary (RAPS EU) on the ground in Europe. In fact, this person will be the face of RAPS in Europe. This position requires a unique combination of strengths and capabilities and the ability to master multiple roles. To be successful, this person will:
  

• need an understanding of and skill in marketing, communications, business development, and relationship management
• be an excellent communicator and highly collaborative
• support and work cross-functionally with volunteer stakeholder groups as well as RAPS global function owners (education, marketing, news, publications, membership) to deliver high-value programs to the European regulatory community
• have high energy and initiative and excellent time and project management skills
• be able to develop an understanding of the healthcare regulatory affairs profession and the people who work in our field.

Responsibilities:

• Support the RAPS global team to develop insights from member, customer, and volunteer interactions, data, and analysis that maximize engagement of regulatory affairs professionals in Europe
• Collaborate with all relevant teams at RAPS – including product, education, news, content, publications, marketing, business development—to drive member and customer engagement in Europe
• Track and manage follow-up for membership and chapter efforts, including working closely with data and analytics on results and insights, ensuring refinement and performance evaluation
• Support product, content, and marketing engagement across the member and customer communities
• Work effectively with RAPS staff (US based) across multiple disciplines to develop strategies for involvement with regulatory agencies, customer education, and outreach programs and events
• Maintain and nurture relationships with RAPS European chapters and local networking groups (LNG), enterprise customers, and volunteer committees (REC, Euro Convergence, etc.)
• Develop and maintain relationships with member and non-member health industry professionals
• Develop awareness and familiarity of legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues that impact healthcare regulatory affairs at the EU and member state levels.
• Develop strategic partnerships with industry organizations and regulatory authorities to support RAPS’ mission and strategic priorities, in coordination with RAPS staff and other stakeholders
• Develop and, when necessary, deliver concise and meaningful presentations for internal and external audiences

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Ability to understand and interpret customer behaviors and translate them into products and services
• Strong strategic thinking
• Ability to execute and follow up
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved
• English language professional fluency

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of healthcare industry and European healthcare product regulations
• Multi-lingual capability is a plus

Required Education:

• Bachelors/undergraduate degree required

Travel:
International travel is required. This person will attend multiple RAPS and industry trade shows and, competitor and industry conferences of up to a week duration each. Additionally, they will attend RAPS community group (chapters) meetings throughout the year in several countries (UK, FR, DE, NL, CH). Travel to the US for planning or other meetings with RAPS team members also may be required. Travel expectations are up to 30% to 40%.

• This position will be remote or home-based for at least the first year.
