Position Title: Senior Accountant (Full-Time)
Work Location: Rockville, MD

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly close activities and assist in preparation of consolidated financial statements
  • Analyze the monthly financial statement results and provide explanations for any unusual items and interact with business stakeholders to understand variances
  • Prepare journal entries, such as accruals, intercompany eliminations, fixed asset depreciation, and other adjustments to fairly represent the monthly financial results of the Company
  • Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies
  • Reconcile cash accounts monthly or as frequently as deemed necessary
  • Reconcile payroll and payroll related accounts monthly
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Assist with preparing for year-end financial audit
  • Assist in development of annual budget and three-year plan
  • Assist with the development of accounting and financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient financial operations of the organization and compliance with applicable accounting and financial standards
  • Review and approve monthly sales tax filing
  • Review and approve annual 1099 Forms
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and accounting practices
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Technical Experience

  • At least 5 years accounting experience
  • Proficient knowledge of general accounting systems (such as MS GP, SL, Intacct); general knowledge of AMS interfaces or other related systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently to meet goals with limited supervision
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Skilled in financial analysis
  • Problem-solving skills

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
