Risk Management for QMSR Compliance
Risk management sits at the foundation of safe medical device development, but its scope is frequently misunderstood. Most organizations treat it as a design-phase activity — something completed during development and filed away. The Quality Management System Regulation (QMSR), effective February 2, 2026, puts new emphasis on how inefficient static risk management systems are. Risk management is expected to run as a continuous, living process across every major quality management system subsystem, from initial feasibility through post-market surveillance.
This course builds the vocabulary, regulatory context, and practical skills needed to implement risk management correctly under the current framework. It covers the core concepts and terminology of ISO 14971, the most common documentation tools and their failure modes, the connection between usability engineering and risk analysis, and the disciplines that keep risk controls alive after a device reaches the market.
