PT Social Media and Communications Specialist
Location: Rockville, MD (hybrid or fully remote)
Key skills: Multi-channel marketing, marketing campaign development, copywriting.

Reports to: Senior Director, Marketing & Communications
The Role
This part-time position supports RAPS’ communications efforts by creating and distributing content that engages members, promotes programs and events, and advances the RAPS mission. This role contributes to messaging across multiple channels, including social media, online community platforms, and internal, external, and website communications. This role also supports email production by producing email content and building emails in RAPS’ email platform.
What will you do with us:
Support RAPS’ social media strategy to grow audience, increase engagement, strengthen brand awareness, and execute campaigns that support RAPS programs in collaboration with marketing team members and stakeholders.
Support optimization and engagement for RAPS’ online community forum, Regulatory Exchange (RegEx), with a focus on cultivating peer discussion and collaboration, increasing member value, and driving interest and revenue across RAPS products and events.
Own content calendars for RAPS social media and RegEx online forum in coordination with Manager, social media and Communications.
Support copy development and editing for RAPS marketing and communications projects.
Monitor and report basic engagement metrics across social and community channels.
Serve as a backup for email builds and production, in coordination with the Email Marketing Manager.
Support other organizational communications initiatives as applicable.
What you will bring to succeed:
3+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, journalism
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Excellent internal/external communication (written and oral) skills
Familiarity with social media platforms, best practices
Experience executing successful organic social media campaigns
Experience publishing/scheduling social media content organically and using third-party tools
Basic design skills using design software such as Adobe Express, Canva, etc.
Familiarity with AP and Chicago style
Proven skills in project management, content development/management, social engagement, public relations, audience development, and executing integrated cross-channel campaigns
Strong decision making and analytical competency
Strong, proactive, solutions-based approach to problem-solving
Collaborative, multi-tasker with an attention to detail who thrives working in a fast-pasted, dynamic environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, Mailchimp, or similar) preferred
Familiarity with HTML, Google Analytics, SEO/SEM, UX/UI, email, and website content
management systems preferred
Association/nonprofit and/or regulatory/health-science experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in communications or marketing) or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the necessary skills and experience required for the position
