RAPS honors 9 regulatory professionals and one organization with 2024 awards

RAPS has recognized nine distinguished professionals and one advocacy group with awards for their work to support the regulatory profession and advance public health. Recipients will be honored at RAPS Convergence 2024, which will take place on 17-19 September in Long Beach, California.

The 2024 RAPS Award winners are: 

The Founder’s Award

The Founder’s Award is the profession’s highest honor, recognizing exemplary regulatory professionals who have shaped regulatory policy and practice and have made a positive impact on the profession. This year’s Founder’s Award recipients are: 

  • Suzanne Halliday, MSc, DPhil, FRAPS, Vice President of Regulatory at BSI  

  • Richard Pazdur, MD, Director, Oncology Center of Excellence at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  

  • June Raine, MD, DBE, Director, Vigilance and Risk Management at the UK Medical Healthcare products Regulatory Agency 

  • Jeff Shuren, MD, JD, Director, Center for Devices and Radiological Health at FDA 

The Community Leadership Award

The Community Leadership Award recognizes RAPS members who have served as RAPS ambassadors and have spent time building networks and supporting regulatory professionals in their communities. This year’s Community Leadership Award recipients are:  

  • Jennifer Neff, DVM, PhD, MBA, RAC-Global, Principal Consultant and Head of Medical Devices at Entourage GmbH  

  • Yoshiko Stowell, PhD, RAC-Drugs, PMP, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Kenai Therapeutics 

The Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award recognizes promising individuals early in their careers who demonstrate initiative and exhibit a passion for strengthening their regulatory communities. This year’s Rising Star Award recipients are: 

  • Surina Gulati, MBEE, Senior Quality Systems and Compliance Engineer at Align Technology 

  • Dinesh Puppala, MS, RAC-US, Regulatory Affairs Lead at Google 

The Patient-Centered Health Award

The Patient-Centered Health Award recognizes organizations or individuals for making a significant impact to advance patient-centered policy, product development or regulatory decision-making. The recipient of this year’s honor is the Critical Path Institute

The Article of the Year Award

The Article of the Year Award celebrates the most thought-provoking feature article in Regulatory Focus. This year’s award-winning article is “Bioanalysis in drug development” by Tapasvi Modi, MSc, PhD, Regulatory Affairs Manager at Parexel International.

“Regulatory professionals work tirelessly to ensure healthcare products are safe, effective and available to the patients who need them,” said RAPS Executive Director Bill McMoil. “These outstanding awardees exemplify excellence by setting the highest standards, giving back to the professional community, and ensuring the ultimate goal is always to improve patient outcomes.”
