Brazil: Advisory Council Discusses New ANVISA

ANVISA's Advisory Council-a group including representatives of the National Confederations of Industry (CNI), Commerce (CNC) and Health (CNS) and councils that represent the health secretaries of Brazilian states and municipalities-came together to discuss the new structure of the Brazilian regulatory agency at its 38th meeting on 18 April 2012.

The restructuring also resulted in the development of a Strategic Plan for the agency for the coming years, which the Council noted should include evaluating the possibility of creating quality indicators for orthotics and prosthetics.

The Advisory Council Chair, Marcia Amaral, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Health, said the next meeting of the Council, scheduled for June will focus on the agency's Strategic Planning.
