Sir Gordon Duff, the chairman of the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced on 27 March 2014 that he is giving up his position at the agency after his recent appointment as Principal of St Hilda's College, Oxford.

The move is to take place "later this year" and the Department of Health has already initiated a recruitment process to find a successor for Sir Gordon. Prior to taking the position as chair of the MHRA in January 2013, Sir Gordon had been Chair of the Commission of Human Medicines (CHM) and Chair of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Committee.
