Cooperation Agreement Brings Together Regulators From Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru
The Pacific Alliance, a Latin American trade bloc launched last year, have established and signed a framework to increase cooperation and trade between Mexican, Chilean, Colombian and Peruvian regulators.
The framework, established over the course of two high-level meetings (Technical Group XI and Group XVII), eliminates regulatory barriers and establishes mechanisms for streamlining the issuance of medical records for medications. It also sets out commitments by the Chilean and Peruvian health authorities to obtain Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) certification as regional reference regulatory authorities.
The Pacific Alliance is a Latin American trade bloc formally launched on June 6, 2012. It groups Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, and represents about 36% of Latin American GDP.
