EMA's Rasi Seeks Greater Industry Participation

European Medicines Agency (EMA) Executive Director Guido Rasi said in remarks at an industry conference he hopes to see greater industry involvement with EMA through stakeholder forums, reports Outsourcing Pharma.

"The only stakeholder that is not now in the agency is the industry, but we do have a forum where we can discuss with them and include them," said Rasi to Outsourcing Pharma.

"The time is now for a higher level of engagement," added Rasi.

Martin Harvey, head of communications at EMA, expanded upon Rasi's sentiments, saying EMA "wants to achieve [a] better understanding about the regulators' role in the chain."

"The question we're asking ourselves at the moment is 'what information is needed from the regulators' and 'what is needed from the pharmaceutical industry', and 'how do we join all of this together,'" remarked Harvey.
