European Regulator Cancels, Postpones Meetings in Face of Traffic
Of all the contingencies planned for by regulatory professionals, sporting events seem to be rare among the potentialities meriting discussion. But European-based regulatory professionals planning on doing business with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in June and July would do well to plan around the most prestigious of games: the Olympics.
EMA announced it will be cancelling, postponing and re-configuring a number of events and reviews after assessing the impact of the Olympic Games on travel in and around London. The agency will cancel two meetings involving its Name Review Group and its Committee on Herbal Medical Products, and will move its Committee for Advanced Therapies from being an in-person meeting to a virtual one.
Eleven other committee meetings will be moved elsewhere in the European Economic Area, including the offices of German, Dutch and Norwegian regulators.
