FDA's Device Division Looking for New Leader for Regulatory Policy

The US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) is looking for a new deputy center director for policy, the top policy position within the center, it announced this week.

The candidate would help lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the medical device regulatory center's regulatory policies and programs, including guidance documents and regulations, FDA said in the notice.

The position is also tasked with advising the CDRH director—Jeffery Shuren—"on all regulatory and policy making activities that affect Center-wide programs, projects and initiatives or have an impact on the development and achievement of long-range program goals."

The ideal candidate would have at least five years' experience in FDA law, knowledge of current device policies and hot-button issues in device regulation, and leadership experience.

The position, FDA told Focus, is currently held by Nancy Stade, who will be leaving at the end of the summer to pursue "another career opportunity."
