FDA Seeks Industry Nominees for Pediatric Advisory Committee
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is calling on the pharmaceutical and medical device industry to nominate a nonvoting industry representative to serve on the Pediatric Advisory Committee.
In its 9 August Federal Register posting, FDA notes the nominee, "May either be self-nominated or nominated by an organization to serve as a nonvoting industry representative." The committee oversees research priorities, ethical considerations and pediatric drugs, biologics, medical devices and in vitro diagnostic products.
"Any industry organization interested in participating in the selection of an appropriate nonvoting member to represent industry interests should send a letter stating that interest to the FDA contact within 30 days of publication of this document," explained FDA in the Federal Register posting. "Within the subsequent 30 days, FDA will send a letter to each organization that has expressed an interest, attaching a complete list of all such organizations; and a list of all nominees along with their current resumes."
Within 60 days of industry receiving a list of candidates received by FDA, representatives will be expected to, "Confer with one another and to select a candidate." FDA said if no individual is selected within the 60-day period, it would select the member itself.
Candidate applications should include contact information and up-to-date curriculum vitae, and will be forwarded on to industry organizations. FDA notes individuals who self-nominate will not be eligible to participate in the selection process.
