Ian Hudson Appointed as New MHRA Chief Executive

The UK's Department of Health (DOH) has announced the appointment of Dr. Ian Hudson as Chief Executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Hudson will begin in his new position in September 2013 when Sir Kent Woods, the current head of the MHRA, steps down after ten years with the agency.

Hudson is currently the MHRA's Licensing Director and the UK delegate to the Committee on Human Medicinal Products (CHMP) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA), where he has been CHMP's vice-chairman since October 2012. Before joining the Medicines Control Agency (MCA) in 2001 as Director of its Licensing Division, Hudson worked as a pediatrician and in clinical research and development for the pharmaceutical industry.
