Pfizer's Attempts to Launch Virtual Clinical Trial Fall Short of Success

After making headlines late last year, Pfizer has admitted that the launch of their much-heralded virtual clinical trial has thus far failed to recruit a sufficient number of patients for the trial.

Outsourcing Pharma reports that the trial, headed by Miguel Orri, Pfizer's senior director of clinical sciences, may have initially been too encumbered by the enrollment process to succeed.

Pfizer has reportedly made changes to its recruitment process and is now experiencing an "immense inflow of subjects," but is still behind its original target.

Pzifer is also reportedly sticking to its investment in the trial method, choosing to incorporate the enrollment technologies developed for the initial trial into other trials in the future, including one launching soon in Europe.
