RAPS European and Clinical Risk Management Conference kicks off new RAPS Conference Series

Nearly 100 global participants gathered this week in Brussels, Belgium to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the clinical and risk management issues impacting the profession at the RAPS European Clinical and Risk Management Conference

The RAPS European Clinical and Risk Management Conference is the first event in the RAPS Conference Series, a new type of RAPS educational experience. Events in the RAPS Conference Series offer intermediate- and advanced-level professionals a space to explore key topics in depth, creating a collaborative environment for interactive education and professional development.

During two days of education at the Hilton Brussels Grand Place, delegates at the RAPS European Clinical and Risk Management Conference heard from and engaged with more than 30 speakers from health authorities, notified bodies and industry. These included representatives from the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Commission, BSI, Kiwa, Notified Body 1639, SGS Belgium, TÜV Rheinland, and TÜV Süd.

Delegates were able to choose from 20 sessions developed and curated by the RAPS European Council (REC). These sessions followed four tracks: clinical evaluation, clinical investigation, risk management, and software/AI. Eleven participants arrived one day early to the conference for a preconference workshop, “Clinical Evaluation Toolkit,” led by Jennifer Neff and Robert Van Boxtel.

“Within the EU MDR, this clinical and risk management processes are an integral part of the development and post market processes of obtaining and maintaining market access.” said Robert Van Boxtel, a RAPS member and vice chair of the RAPS European Council. "This conference allowed all attendees to understand the requirements and make progress in translating them toward actions by working together.”
