RAPS Launches Global Survey of Regulatory Professionals' Work and Compensation
RAPS has just launched its biennial global survey of regulatory professionals who work with healthcare and related products. RAPS’ Scope of Practice & Compensation Survey of the Regulatory Profession, conducted every two years, is the largest and most comprehensive survey of professionals in this important field, vital to ensuring healthcare products are safe and effective.
Respondents work in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, government agencies, academia, consultancies and other settings where regulatory expertise is needed. Those completing the 10–15-minute survey answer questions about their jobs, backgrounds and compensation, and all answers are kept confidential and anonymous. The results will be released this summer.
RAPS also is offering participants the option to receive free advance access to the results, as well as a chance to win one of four $250 (US) Amazon gift cards to be given away to respondents over the course of the next two months. In addition, those who have the Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) credential also receive one point toward their recertification requirement.

RAPS has conducted similar research on the regulatory profession for more than 25 years. The 2014 survey drew responses from more than 3,300 regulatory professionals in 62 countries. According to the resulting 2014 Scope of Practice & Compensation Report, regulatory professionals’ salaries rose an average of 5.4% from 2012 to 2013. RAPS’ analysis of the responses showed that job level, regulatory experience, highest-earned degree, total professional experience and having the RAC credential have significant influence on compensation.
The survey results will be very useful to regulatory professionals and talent managers wishing to benchmark salaries and compensation packages. It also provides insight to help RAPS track trends and drive greater awareness and understanding of the importance of the profession.
