RAPS welcomes new Ontario Chapter

RAPS has announced the official launch of the RAPS Ontario Chapter, which first began as a RAPS-affiliated local networking group. Ontario joins Vancouver as the second RAPS chapter in Canada and expands RAPS’ global network to now include 20 chapters and eight local networking groups.

“We are very excited about the formal launch of our chapter in the RAPS regulatory community,” said founding member and Ontario chapter chair, Ntsakisi Onibayo, RAC, regulatory compliance and quality specialist. “Our mission is simple—develop and sustain a competent Ontario regulatory workforce that drives good regulatory practice and policy to advance public health. This chapter affords us an opportunity to connect with regulatory affairs professionals within our local area, as well as across the globe.”

“Regulatory leaders in Ontario have worked diligently toward this, and we are proud to welcome them as an official chapter,” said RAPS Interim Executive Director Bill McMoil. “RAPS chapters are vitally important to local regulatory professionals and life sciences companies. In this new era of telework and virtual meetings, local networks may be more important than ever.”

The Ontario chapter has a virtual kick-off networking meeting planned for 25 September 2020 and an educational webcast on 16 November 2020. When restrictions are lifted, chapter leaders plan to begin scheduling face-to-face events, following Canadian and Ontario government safety guidelines.

Ontario is the most populous province in Canada and one of the most active in terms of life sciences. Numerous medical devices, pharmaceutical, biologics and nutritional products manufacturers, research centers and distributors call the province home, making regulatory expertise indispensable to the local economy.
