Career Pathways & Specializations in Regulatory Affairs
RAPS Education Webinar Series – Career Development
This RAPS education webinar is designed to support students and early-career professionals seeking to better understand career opportunities within regulatory affairs and adjacent fields. As the regulatory profession continues to expand across therapeutic areas, technologies, and organization types, early career navigation can be challenging without clear guidance and exposure to real-world perspectives.
The session will begin by outlining common regulatory career pathways, from entry-level positions through senior and leadership roles, and discussing how responsibilities, influence, and decision-making evolve over time. Participants will gain insight into how
regulatory professionals build foundational skills, develop subject-matter expertise, and
progress within the profession.
Speakers will discuss the focus and the scope of their areas of interest and how professionals may move between or specialize within these functions throughout their careers.
Participants will also learn how regulatory roles differ across organizational settings such as academia, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and CROs. The discussion will address differences in regulatory responsibilities, organizational culture,
and professional development opportunities, with particular attention to considerations for early-career professionals.
Attendees will gain an understanding of how regulatory competencies apply across related disciplines and how professionals can broaden or pivot their careers over time.
An interactive panel will feature regulatory professionals sharing their personal career journeys, insights, and reflections on what they wish they had known earlier in their careers. A live Ask Me Anything segment will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with panelists. The session will conclude with a wrap-up of career development resources, including an overview of RAPS programs, learning opportunities, and professional communities designed to support regulatory professionals throughout their careers.
A certificate of attendance can be downloaded from the RAPS Learning Portal following the event.

Inflammatory Cardiovascular Scientist | Heart Failure and Cardiac Remodeling | Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Candidate | U.S. Navy Veteran

Inflammatory Cardiovascular Scientist | Heart Failure and Cardiac Remodeling | Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Candidate | U.S. Navy Veteran
I am a PhD-trained inflammatory cardiovascular scientist specializing in heart failure remodeling and immune-mediated myocardial injury. My research has focused on inflammasome activation, catecholamine-driven myocardial inflammation, and structural cardiac remodeling—mechanisms that bridge cardiometabolic stress, neurohumoral activation, and cardiovascular disease progression. Through doctoral and postdoctoral training, I developed deep mechanistic insight into the immune-cardiac axis and the role of inflammation in heart failure and cardiometabolic dysfunction. My work has resulted in peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and competitive research funding, strengthening my ability to translate complex biological pathways into clinically relevant scientific dialogue. In parallel with my academic research, I gained hands-on experience in regulated early-phase clinical development environments. Serving as an Associate Clinical Trial Manager, Clinical Data Coordinator, and Quality Assurance Auditor, I supported sponsor, CRO, and investigative site collaboration—building fluency in GCP compliance, protocol interpretation, safety oversight, and cross-functional execution within complex clinical programs. I am particularly motivated by peer-to-peer scientific exchange, insight generation, and the responsible dissemination of emerging data across cardiovascular and cardiometabolic therapeutic areas. My goal is to contribute to Medical Affairs teams advancing innovative therapies that target inflammatory and remodeling pathways central to cardiovascular risk. As a U.S. Navy Veteran, I bring autonomy, accountability, and disciplined execution to every role—qualities essential for effective field-based scientific engagement and long-term partnership development.
