The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday launched a new Medication Guide database to replace the current Medication Guide web page.
A medication guide is a form of patient labeling provided with many drugs and is part of the FDA-approved prescription drug labeling. Medication guides address issues specific to particular prescription drugs or biologics and can help patients avoid serious adverse events.
Features of the new database, according to FDA, include: active pharmaceutical ingredient and brand name search for medication guides; the new ability to download to spreadsheets; streamlined data entry for faster updates and improved mobile device usability.
