The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) on Monday opened a twelve-week public consultation to gather input on its approach to engaging the public, patients, caregivers and health care professionals.
“We want to adopt a more systematic approach to listening to and involving patients – ensuring that the patient voice is heard when safety issues, concerning medicines and medical devices, are identified and in the licensing of new medicines,” MHRA writes.
The consultation consists of a survey asking respondents about their current awareness of MHRA activities, as well as asking respondents to rate how effective the agency’s current communication practices are.
The survey also asks how respondents would like to see the agency communicate in the future and asks how patients and the public would like to participate in various aspects of regulatory decision-making.
The consultation is open until 7 October and can be completed by filling out an online questionnaire or by filling out a downloadable form and emailing it to the agency.
