RAPS honors 12 regulatory professionals and one organization with 2023 awards
RAPS has recognized 12 distinguished professionals and one advocacy group with awards for their work to support the regulatory profession and advance public health. Recipients will be honored at RAPS Convergence 2023, which will take place on 3-5 October in Montreal, Canada.
“Regulatory professionals work tirelessly to ensure healthcare products are safe, effective and available to the patients who need them,” said RAPS Executive Director Bill McMoil. “These outstanding awardees exemplify excellence by setting the highest standards, giving back to the professional community, and ensuring the ultimate goal is always to improve patient outcomes.”
The Founder’s Award is the profession’s highest honor, recognizing exemplary regulatory professionals who have shaped regulatory policy and practice and have made a positive impact on the profession. This year’s Founder’s Award recipients are:
- Paul Brooks, FRAPS, Retired
- Janet Woodcock, MD, Principal Deputy Commissioner, US Food and Drug Administration
- Peter Marks, MD, PhD, Director of Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, US Food and Drug Administration
- Philippe Auclair, FRAPS, PharmD, PhD, Senior Director of Regulatory Strategy and Advocacy, Abbott Laboratories
The Community Leadership Award recognizes RAPS members who have served as RAPS ambassadors, building networks and supporting regulatory professionals in their communities. This year’s awardees are:
- Chris Whalley, Head of Global Regulatory Policy & Intelligence, Seagen
- Madhuri Jerfy, RAC, Director, Global Regulatory Affairs, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals
The Rising Star Award recognizes promising individuals early in their careers who demonstrate initiative and exhibit a passion for strengthening the community. This year’s awardees are:
- Odhiambo David, Regulatory Affairs Manager, Policy & Strategic Operations, Novartis
- Harshita Menon, MS, Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Merative
The Patient-Centered Health Award recognizes organizations or individuals for making a significant impact to advance patient-centered policy, product development or regulatory decision making. The recipient of this year’s honor is TransCelerate Bio Pharma.
The Best Book of the Year Award celebrates one outstanding and original topical book published by RAPS in the year prior to Convergence. This year’s award-winning publication is Regulation of Regenerative Medicines: A Global Perspective.
